The Pakistani dental community and loved ones in Canada are mourning the heartbreaking death of Diya Khan, a 17-year-old girl and beloved granddaughter of renowned dental educators Professor Dr. Mervyn Hosein and Professor Dr. Tasleem Hosein. Diya passed away on Saturday, October 31, 2026, in Canada, leaving her family, friends, and loved ones devastated by the loss of someone so young.

The heartbreaking news was shared by Dental News Pakistan, which expressed profound sadness and extended heartfelt condolences to Diya’s grieving family and the wider dental fraternity.
Diya was the cherished daughter of Kamil Aziz Khan and Sehar Hosein, whose lives have been forever changed by the sudden loss of their beloved daughter.
At just 17 years old, Diya had so much life ahead of her, with countless opportunities, experiences, and dreams still waiting to unfold. Her passing represents an unimaginable tragedy for her parents, grandparents, extended family, and everyone who held her dear.
Her grandfather, Professor Dr. Mervyn Hosein, is a distinguished dental educator and maxillofacial surgeon associated with Ziauddin College of Dentistry in Pakistan. Throughout his professional career, he has contributed to dental education, clinical training, and academic leadership.
Her grandmother, Professor Dr. Tasleem Hosein, is equally respected for her contributions to dentistry. She previously served as Principal and Dean of Fatima Jinnah Dental College and was awarded the title of Professor Emeritus in recognition of her longstanding dedication to dental education.
The family’s loss has touched members of Pakistan’s dental community, many of whom have expressed their sympathy and prayers during this incredibly painful time.
Reports have also linked Diya Khan’s death to a tragic accident near Guelph, Ontario, on October 31. Ontario Provincial Police confirmed that a devastating single-vehicle crash occurred that morning on Watson Road South in Puslinch Township, south of Guelph.
The collision claimed four young lives, including that of a 17-year-old girl, and left two other teenagers injured. However, police initially withheld the victims’ names, and Diya has not been independently identified as one of those killed in the collision.
As loved ones grieve, arrangements have been announced for prayers honoring Diya’s memory.
Dua prayers will be held on Monday, November 2, 2026, between Asr and Maghrib, at 1-B South Seaview Avenue, corner of South Park Avenue, DHA Phase 2, near Abu Bakar Masjid in Karachi, Pakistan.
Dental News Pakistan has extended its deepest condolences to Diya’s parents, grandparents, relatives, and everyone affected by her passing.
During this heartbreaking time, may the family find strength through their faith, comfort in the love surrounding them, and patience as they navigate their profound grief.
May Allah Almighty forgive Diya Khan, illuminate her grave, grant her the highest place in Jannat-ul-Firdous, and bless her parents, grandparents, and entire family with Sabr-e-Jameel. Ameen.
