RALEIGH, N.C. — Littlemaria Catalina Garcia, 20, died after being shot Tuesday afternoon in Raleigh, North Carolina. Her girlfriend, 18-year-old Shaliah Nikole Battista, has been charged with murder, according to police.
Officers responded to 1107 Garner Road shortly after 3 p.m., where they found Garcia suffering from a gunshot wound. She was transported to a hospital with life-threatening injuries but later died.
Police identified Battista as the suspect in the shooting. According to authorities, Battista, who was reportedly in a dating relationship with Garcia, remained at the scene and was arrested.
Battista faces a murder charge and remains in custody in Wake County.
Authorities have not released further details about the circumstances surrounding the shooting. The case remains under investigation as the legal proceedings move forward.
