The Troutman, North Carolina, community is mourning the heartbreaking death of Jeffrey Tyler Robertson, a beloved 35-year-old husband, father of two, son, brother, and friend who tragically lost his life in a motorcycle accident on Interstate 77 on Thursday, October 29, 2026. His sudden passing has devastated his family, friends, and loved ones as they struggle to come to terms with losing someone so deeply cherished.

According to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol, the fatal accident occurred at approximately 6:10 a.m. in the southbound toll lane of Interstate 77 near Langtree Road in Iredell County.

Investigators reported that Tyler was riding a 2004 Kawasaki motorcycle when an apparent tire failure caused him to lose control.

The motorcycle overturned, throwing him onto the roadway. His motorcycle subsequently passed through lane barriers and was struck by a tractor-trailer.

Tyler came to rest in the southbound toll lane, where he was struck by a 2020 Chevrolet SUV. He sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The accident caused significant traffic disruptions as emergency responders and investigators worked to secure the area.

Although authorities initially considered the possibility of a hit-and-run, investigators reviewed toll-lane surveillance footage, tractor-trailer dash-camera recordings, and other evidence.

The review found no indication that additional vehicles were involved. No charges had been filed, and the investigation remained ongoing.

Beyond the tragic circumstances of his death, Tyler was a devoted family man whose greatest happiness came from the people he loved.

He leaves behind his beloved wife, Jessica, and their two children, Nash and Charlie.

In an emotional tribute, family members described Tyler as a gentle, kindhearted man who made others feel comfortable and valued.

He was affectionately described as a big teddy bear, someone whose caring personality and welcoming nature made him easy to love.

His passing has also left his parents, Sonny and Sharon, his brother Garrett, and his sister Teshia grieving an unimaginable loss.

Following the tragedy, Megan Robertson organized a GoFundMe campaign to support Jessica and the children.

The fundraiser will help cover household bills, daily living expenses, and financial responsibilities as the family adjusts to life without Tyler, who had been their primary provider.

Friends and community members have been encouraged to offer prayers, donations, and messages of support.

Heartfelt condolences are extended to Jessica, Nash, Charlie, Tyler’s parents, siblings, extended family, coworkers, and everyone mourning his passing.
