A young life can hold so much promise, with dreams, opportunities, and experiences still waiting to unfold. For Jaidyn Maki Manns, that future was tragically cut short, leaving a painful loss following a fatal shooting in Ridgeway, Virginia.
Manns, 18, was identified by the Henry County Sheriff’s Office as the victim of a shooting that occurred on Saturday, October 31, 2026, at 310 Main Street.
According to the official statement, preliminary findings indicate that individuals had arranged to meet at the location for a firearm transaction. During the encounter, a shooting occurred, leaving Manns with fatal injuries. He later died as a result of those injuries.
Following investigative efforts and information received from members of the community, deputies identified and located a vehicle believed to be connected to the incident.
The sheriff’s office confirmed that two individuals had been taken into custody. One is a 14-year-old juvenile being held at the W.W. Moore Juvenile Detention Facility in Danville. The second individual, identified as Tyquel Zion Hampton, is being held at the Henry County Adult Detention Center.
Investigators continue working to establish the exact circumstances surrounding the shooting.
