With broken hearts, family, friends, and the Harrells community are mourning the heartbreaking loss of Breezy A. Hernandez, 20, whose life was tragically cut short in a devastating head-on collision on US 421 near River Road in North Carolina, early Sunday morning, November 1, 2026.

At approximately 7:37 a.m., North Carolina Highway Patrol Trooper M.E. Millen responded to the fatal crash involving a 1999 Toyota pickup truck and a 2019 Freightliner tractor-trailer carrying methane gas.
Preliminary information indicates that Breezy was traveling northbound on US 421 when the Toyota pickup crossed the centerline and collided head-on with the southbound tractor-trailer.
The devastating impact caused both vehicles to catch fire and burn just off the roadway. Tragically, Breezy was killed in the collision.
The tractor-trailer driver, Lawa A. Dowdell, 30, of Leland, North Carolina, was injured and transported to Sampson Regional Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Authorities confirmed that the methane gas remained inside the container and did not burn. The State Hazardous Materials Unit responded to the scene.
Both drivers were reportedly wearing seat belts. Speed is not believed to have been a factor, while impairment remains under investigation.
As Breezy’s family and friends face the unimaginable pain of losing someone so young, prayers and heartfelt condolences surround them during this difficult time.
May God bring comfort to Breezy’s grieving family, strength to those who loved him, and healing to everyone affected by this heartbreaking tragedy. We also pray for Lawa Dowdell’s recovery.
Rest peacefully, Breezy A. Hernandez. Your life was precious, your memory will live on, and you will never be forgotten.
