The Brighton East, Melbourne, community is mourning the heartbreaking death of Ivan Harrison, affectionately known as Harry, a beloved 43-year-old father whose life was tragically cut short in a devastating car accident on Sunday evening, November 1, 2026. The collision also claimed the life of 19-year-old motorcyclist Zac Keinan, leaving two families, friends, and loved ones facing unimaginable grief.
According to Victoria Police, the fatal accident occurred at approximately 6:30 p.m. at the intersection of South Road and Olive Street in Brighton East, Melbourne.
Ivan was driving a Haval vehicle when it collided with a motorcycle ridden by Zac Keinan. Tragically, both men sustained fatal injuries and were pronounced dead at the scene.
– Honored Lives Ivan’s seven-year-old son, Henry, was travelling in the back seat of the vehicle and survived the collision with minor injuries. He was transported to the hospital for treatment.
Henry’s mother, Tania Benbow, expressed her heartbreak over Ivan’s death while acknowledging his remarkable devotion to their son. She credited the appropriate use of a booster seat and Henry’s position in the back seat with helping protect him during the devastating accident.

For Ivan, fatherhood was one of life’s greatest joys. His love for Henry was evident to everyone who knew them. The father and son shared a special bond through soccer, and Ivan took immense pride in Henry’s selection for the C4F soccer academy.
The accident also claimed the life of Zac Keinan, a 19-year-old from St Kilda. His father, Jacob, remembered him as an amazing young man and a free spirit whose passing has left his family devastated.
Moorabbin Highway Patrol continues investigating the circumstances surrounding the fatal collision. Although witnesses have raised questions about motorcycle speed, authorities have not established the official cause of the accident.
